Females in Front

Hej!

Kommer ni ihåg att jag skrev om kvinnlig presentation i EU för några dagar/inlägg sedan?
Som illustration till det och till vad som står nedan är en bild på Margot Wallström. Jag tog den när Global Kunskap, som jag arbetade för då, hade ett seminarium med henne på Sahlströmsgården i Torsby 20080919.

Så här är det, att inom det närmaste året ska fyra tunga positioner inom EU tillsättas:

* en permanent ordförande för Europeiska rådet,
* en representant för utrikes- och säkerhetspolitik,
* en talman för parlamentet,
* en ordförande för kommissionen

I dagsläget är ingen kvinna aktuell för någon av dessa poster. Om uppropet får minst en miljon underskrifter så måste EU-kommissionen ta upp frågan, enligt principen för deltagandedemokrati i Lissabonföredraget.

När jag fick det här via mail av en kompis gick jag in och "skrev på", digitalt, och när jag nu började kolla mina mail för att rensa, så hittade jag det igen. Nu har fler än 180 500 skrivit på. Säkert båda kvinnor och män!

Within the coming year, persons for four top EU positions are to be selected. Selecting the right people to fill these positions will prove a politically sensitive task. A woman should be selected to fill at least one of the following positions:

Once the Lisbon Treaty is ratified by all 27 Member States, two new permanent positions will be introduced:

* A Council President (permanent President of the European Council)
* A High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

After the elections to the European Parliament in June 2009, another two top positions will be opened up:

* A President of the European Parliament
* A Commission President

The European Union is dominated by men:
In the European Commission 67 % of the commissioners are men, 33 % are women.
In the European Parliament 69 % of the MEP’s are men, 31 % are women
In the Committe of Regions 84 % of the members are men, 16 % are women
In the Economic and Social Committee 77 % of the members are men, 23 % are women

Leading political positions in Member States are dominated by men:

Out of the Unions 27 Member States one Prime Minister is a women, 26 are men.
Out the the Presidents of the Member States, two are women, 18 are men.
Out of the governments of the 27 Member States 75% of senior ministers are men, 25% are women
In the 27 Member States, only Finland has a majority of women ministers. Spain has the same number of men and women in government
In the 27 Member States, only 15% of female ministers are in the economic field. 43% of female ministers are in the cultural or social field

National parliaments in Europe are dominated by men:

In the 27 Member States, four of the Parliament Presidents are women, 23 are men
In the 27 Member States, 76 % of members of national parliaments are men, 24% are women
Sweden has a leading position when it comes to gender equality in the national parliament, 47% of the members are women and 53% men
